This is a common slogan we hear. Preachers of the Word use it to tell the peril of a life without Christ in it.
Who is Christ and what is crisis?
The word “Christ” comes from Christos, a Greek word meaning “anointed.” It is the equivalent of the word Mashiach, or Messiah, in Hebrew. There is no other one given this title than our Lord and Saviour, Jesus.
Crisis is defined as a stressful time in an individual’s life when they experience a breakdown or disruption in their usual or normal daily activities or family functioning.
This means a life without the presence of Christ is one prone to stressful time, breakdown, and disruption.
Jesus told us in the scripture who He is and this projects us into knowing what a life without Him will be
- Life without Christ would be without hope, direction, ambition, and aim: People run from pillar to post these days looking for a way out of their pains and sorrows. They seek direction from astrologers, mind readers, yoga… They have not been able to find a way out because Christ the Way is missing.
Ultimately, there is no hope of seeing God, the Father. - A life without Christ is full of lies: we see people today live fake lives to show who they are not. They tell lies to cover up for their inadequacies.
- A life without Christ is lifeless: Christ is the only One who breathes His life into a man to make him a living soul. People move around today dead in their spirit and souls, without hope. John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
- A life without Christ is a life of hunger: hunger for peace, love, and joy. They seek these in their partners, children, careers, and property, but they are not satisfied because Christ who satisfies is absent.
- A life without Christ thirsts: while Christ satisfies the hunger and thirst of those who long after Him, the thirst of those without Him is unquenchable. They read books, seek knowledge yet the thirst is not quenched because Christ who is able to satisfy their thirst is missing.
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
- A Life without Christ Jesus would live a bleak life of utter darkness: Imagine walking in the dark without any ray of light. What do you think will happen? You don’t know where you are heading. You can stumble and fall. That is how a life without Christ is. They lack guidance and direction to things of life. They consult friends, family, counselors for ways but unfortunately, it ends up being blind leading the blind. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
- A life without Christ has no hope of resurrection: Christ is the only One with the authority to call life to resurrection. A life without Him has no hope to rise at the of their life in this present world. The reassurance to resurrect to another life, is only for those who have accepted Him into their lives. (He has brought us by faith into this experience of God’s grace, in which we now live. And so we boast of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory! Romans 5:2), Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
- A life without Christ is condemned to eternal death: It is not the word of a preacher that condemns a sinner, it is their rejection of Christ. Ephesians 2:18 “For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” Ephesians 3:12 “In Him and through faith in Him we may enter God’s presence with boldness and confidence.”
- If there is no Christ there is no access to God.: Jesus Christ is the One and Only access to God. To get access to God is to have Christ dwell in. John 8:36 “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”
- A life without Christ is in bondage: Our spiritual freedom comes from abiding in Christ. Without Him, life is in the bondage of sin and death. The list is endless. If any of what Christ says He is, is missing, then that life will be without the attributes. Outside of Christ, there is no reality. There is no logic. There is no reason for anything. Everything was made for Christ. Your next breath comes from Christ and is to go back to Christ. We must fully depend on Jesus, without Him we have nothing, but with Him we have everything. When you don’t have Christ you have no power over sin, Satan, and you don’t truly have life.
The Savior of the World, Jesus Christ, wants to be your personal deliverer. Call on Him and ask for forgiveness of your sins. Accept Jesus as the Son of God who died for your sake. Take His outstretched hand and let Him show you the promises He has for you today and forever.
Let the verses of Revelation 22:17 speak to you, “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift
of the water of life.”
Shalom
